New Hampshire has no general prohibitions regarding possession, carrying or ownership of knives. Accordingly, there are no local or municipal ordinances that might restrict knife possession or ownership. New Hampshire has no laws regarding the sale or transfer of knives to minors. This information is presented as a brief synopsis of the law and not as legal advice.
§ 1 Firearms, Ammunition, and Knives; Authority of the State. To the extent consistent with federal law, the state of New Hampshire shall have authority and jurisdiction over the sale, purchase, ownership, use, possession, transportation, licensing, permitting, taxation, or other matter pertaining to firearms, firearms components, ammunition, firearms supplies, or knives in the state.
The orders of notice shall be sent by regular first class mail to the following: the petitioner(s); the minor if fourteen (14) years of age or older; the person nominated to be guardian; any person named as a testamentary guardian in the will of the deceased parent; DHHS if there is a pending juvenile proceeding affecting the minor; and others as identified in the statute as may be appropriate.A New Hampshire or other state or Canadian province’s valid driver’s license which bears the birth date, name, address and picture of the individual; an armed services identification card; or a valid passport from a country with whom the United States maintains diplomatic relations.Photographic identification must be consistent with the appearance of the person and shall be correct and free of alteration, erasure, blemish, or other impairment. (e.g., State-issued driver’s license or identification card, military identification card, passport or immigration card) for establishing a legal age to purchase FDA regulated products. For the third offense, the enforcement authority shall issue a letter of warning detailing necessary corrective actions and a fine ranging from 0.00 to 00.00 and the license to sell tobacco products where the offense occurred shall be suspended for a period of 10-30 consecutive days.It does, however, for instance, prohibit the sale of paint ball guns and/or BB guns to minors.
